The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, Habitat Conservation Division works to protect, manage and conserve aquatic, wetland and upland habitats for the benefit of fish and wildlife populations. The Commission also works to conserve nongame species through the Wildlife Diversity Program, which conducts surveys, research and monitoring and develops species conservation plans for animals listed by the State for protection as Endangered, Threatened, or Special Concern.
