I am interested in the uses of GIS to solve environmental and ecological problems. Recent projects involve mapping the potential risk of mercury methylation in the National Forests, and assessing the effect of climate change on brook trout populations. I am also studying the effect of streambank restoration on the communities of benthic macroinvertebrates in Smith Creek. We collect periodic samples of these organisms as part of a long-term monitoring program to track the effects of the recent tree plantings around the stream.
