Douglas Wood has 33 years of service in aquatic ecology research, water pollution control, & mussel research via scuba with the state of West Virginia. Over 50 water quality and ecological assessment reports for the state of WV and a specialist in headwater streams and vernal pools. Recently retired in Oct. 2012, now performs cooperative research on breeding birds and amphibians. Also volunteer with the Nature Conservancy WV Chapter, Kanawha State Forest Foundation, WV Scenic Trails Assoc., Monongahela National Forest, George Washington & Jefferson N.F., New River Gorge National River, Coal River Group, and Ward Hollow Wildlife Habitat Area (Wildlife Habitat Council restoration site on former waste landfill). Conduct ecological restoration on my own property, farmed since 1835, now managed primarily for wildlife and native plants. Owner of a history education service company.
