Announcing Deadlines for Southeast Grants

The Open Space Institute is now inviting proposals for two complementary land conservation grant funds in the Southeast: Southern Cumberland Land Protection Fund and Southeast Resilient Landscapes Fund.

Through these two programs, OSI enables land trusts to conserve critical places within some of the nation’s most ecologically important landscapes. OSI awards grants through both funds to projects in the Southern Cumberlands, while the Southeast Resilient Landscapes Fund also supports conservation in the Southern Blue Ridge, and the Greater Pee Dee region.

OSI will accept capital grant applications through April 11, 2016. For details on the application process for each fund, please visit OSI’s website. Also, please note that David Ray, our Southeast Field Coordinator, has accepted a job as the Director of Lands with the Colorado Chapter of The Nature Conservancy. If you have questions about either fund, please contact Jennifer Melville, OSI’s VP for Conservation Grants and Loans, at jmelville@osiny.org, 207-846-9700, who will be filling in until we hire a replacement for David.

OSI’s grants are particularly focused on safeguarding lands that are most likely to harbor a diversity of plants and animals despite an increasingly unpredictable and changing climate.

We greatly admire the outstanding work land trusts and their partner agencies are undertaking to protect the Southeast’s most significant natural places and OSI looks forward to continuing to support this important work.
