This session will explore how open space and 'all lands' are being addressed in national forest plan revision efforts.  The first presentation will discuss how an all-lands approach was applied on the George Washington National Forest under the 1982 planning rule. Then, a planning staff member from the Washington D.C. office will give an overview of the new planning rule, emphasizing cross-boundary planning. The last presenter will present an 'early adopter' perspective on the integration of open space concepts into forest plan revisions under the new planning rule.

Scheduled U.S. Forest Service speakers to include:

  • Ken Landgraf: George Washington National Forest Plan Revision - Virginia
  • Bill Connelly: Forest Service Planning Staff - Washington D.C.
  • Jo Ann Fites-Kaufman: Southern Sierra Nevada National Forests Plan Revision - California
