LCC Names New Executive Committee Members
We have tallied all the votes for the election of our next slate of officers who will serve as the Appalachian LCC Chair, Vice Chair, and Executive Committee Officers beginning in April 2016.
We are happy to report that:
- Our new Chair is Gwen Brewer, Science Program Manager with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources;
- Our new Vice Chair is Clyde Thompson, Forest Supervisor for the Monongahela National Forest;
- The newly elected Chair and Vice Chair will “shadow” the current leadership in the intervening months until the new term begins;
- The new Executive Committee will consist of Perry Wheelock, Associate Regional Director, Resource Stewardship and Science for National Park Service, Thomas Minney, The Nature Conservancy State Director for West Virginia, Evan Crews, Senior Manager of Natural Resources Management for the Tennessee Valley Authority, Bill Jenkins, Director of the Office of Environmental Information and Analysis for Mid-Atlantic Region of the Environmental Protection Agency, and Mark Thurman, Manager of Regional Fisheries Program for Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.
The Executive Committee serves as an integral part of the Appalachian LCC Leadership and allows the Chair to convene in‐person or remotely to discuss and render a decision quickly in lieu of convening the larger Committee. We our expanding the number of officers on the Executive Committee to five, as there was great support for each nominee and resulted in an unexpected tie that allowed all those nominated to serve. The LCC Charter will be amended to reflect this decision, as approved by the Chair and Vice Chair.
