Mississippi Forestry Commission

Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks
The mission of the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks is to conserve and enhance Mississippi’s wildlife, fisheries, and parks, provide quality outdoor recreation, and engage the public in natural resource conservation. Mississippi's legislative leadership recognized the need for wildlife conservation in our state and founded the Mississippi Game and Fish Commission in 1932. Since then, the Agency has been the state's premier conservation organization. In 1989, the Bureau of Parks and Recreation merged with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife Conservation to form the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP). The MDWFP is a large state agency charged by state statute to conserve, develop, and protect Mississippi's natural resources and provide continuing outdoor recreation opportunities.
Mississippi Army National Guard
The missions of the Mississippi Army National Guard (1798) and the Mississippi Air National Guard (1939) are now, and always have been, dual in nature. The state mission is: to provide protection of life and property, and uphold the preservation of peace, order and public safety for the citizens of Mississippi, under the leadership and control of the governor. The federal mission is straightforward: to serve for the common defense, under Presidential authority, in times of national emergency or war.

MACHAC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation and study of amphibians and reptiles through advocacy, education, and execution of research by professional herpetologists and ecologists in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern United States.

Mariposa County Office of Emergency Services
The Office of Emergency Services responds to emergencies ranging from wildland fires to storm events to hazardous material incidents. We represent Mariposa County, assist first responders in accessing equipment and personnel, gather information and stay informed. At the scene, we are part of the decision-making process and provide guidance.

Mariposa Biomass Workgroup
The Mariposa Biomass Project has been exploring the idea of a woody biomass facility in Mariposa County that would use slash from forest thinning projects for the generation of bioenergy and commercial byproducts. The facility would produce a revenue stream that should help finance forest thinning projects, attract new industries and jobs to the County, and possibly have other positive economic and environmental benefits for the county and the region.

Mainspring Conservation Trust
Mainspring is the land trust in the Southern Blue Ridge mountains, which spans seven counties: Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Jackson, Macon and Swain in North Carolina, and Rabun County, Georgia. Its goal is to conserve and restore the lands and waters of the Southern Blue Ridge, and to connect the people to these natural treasures. Formed in 1997 by a group of visionaries, this organization grew into the Land Trust for the Little Tennessee, until it transitioned to Mainspring Conservation Trust in 2016.

The Lower Mississippi Valley Joint Venture (LMVJV) is a self-directed, non-regulatory private, state, and federal conservation partnership that exists for the purpose of sustaining bird populations and their habitats within the Lower Mississippi Valley and West Gulf Coastal Plain/Ouachitas regions through implementing and communicating the goals and objectives of relevant national and international bird conservation plans.

To provide opportunities for and to encourage the use and enjoyment of these resources in a safe and healthy environment both on land and on water.
